From Light to Life

VOID is an automated hybrid AI system designed to bridge the gap between raw astrophysical data and intuitive planetary discovery. Developed for the NASA Space Apps Challenge, this platform addresses the complexities of exoplanet classification by transforming massive datasets into actionable scientific insights.

Core Solution

The project tackles the challenge of identifying habitable worlds through a multi-layered technical approach:

Hybrid AI Classification: The engine combines automated machine learning for tabular data with deep learning architectures optimized for time-series analysis. This ensemble method distinguishes confirmed exoplanets from candidates and false positives with high consistency.

Data Exploration & Visualization: VOID provides an interactive interface to dive into NASA’s Kepler, K2, and TESS datasets. Users can upload custom light curve files or filter preloaded data by stellar type, orbital period, and planet radius.

Habitability Analysis: Beyond simple detection, the system assesses the potential for life using metrics like the Earth Similarity Index (ESI). Planets are ranked and displayed with color-coded indicators to help researchers prioritize high-value targets.

Key Features

Interactive Transit Curves: Transform raw astrophysical data into processed orbit maps and star-planet system models.

Professional UI/UX: A minimalist, high-resolution dashboard designed for visual clarity, allowing scientists and the public to engage with complex data intuitively.

End-to-End Workflow: Features a seamless path from data source selection (file upload or manual input) to predictive analysis and model training.
