Hospitals don’t just struggle with patient volume…

They struggle with quality, efficiency, and consistency of care.

So I decided to analyze a real-world healthcare dataset to answer one key question:

What really drives hospital performance?

What I built:

An interactive Hospital Performance & Quality Dashboard using Power BI

Key Problems Identified:

High readmission rates in specific departments (especially Cardiology)

Uneven workload distribution across doctors

Heavy reliance on Emergency admissions

Longer hospital stays slightly impacting patient satisfaction

Key Insights:

High patient volume does NOT always mean better performance

Some departments perform better with fewer patients → quality > quantity

Operational inefficiencies directly impact patient experience

Recommendations:

Improve follow-up systems to reduce readmissions

Balance doctor workload across departments

Optimize emergency department operations

Reduce unnecessary length of stay
