Nearly 90% of respondent estimated the lowest cost for external consultation for inpatients and outpatients to be less than 1000 EGP with almost half of the respondents (45.8% for inpatients costs and 44.4% for outpatients’ costs) reported the lowest cost to fall between 200 and 500 EGP (Figure 4 a). For the highest estimated cost, a greater variation in physicians perception was observed with the most significant percentage of participants (33.2% for inpatients and 35% for outpatients) indicated the range to fall between 500 and 1000 EGP. A slightly higher proportion of physicians estimated the highest consultation cost exceeding 1500 EGP for inpatients (21%) compared to outpatients (17%) (Figure 4 b).
