Arabic children's books use fonts that are best for expert adult readers. For a literacy project, we want to develop 2-3 fonts that speed up reading for beginners. We are looking for a skilled font designer who can use font development software to develop some fonts that are:

1- simple in form, without serifs, and have normal, thick, and bold forms (Italic is not needed).

2- well-spaced and has good proportions between tall and short letters in linear Arabic.

3- consider the spacing between the letters and the different vowels (harakat) that come above or under the letters of the same word. The font we want will be used extensively with harakat. So the designer must ensure that the harakat are well placed in case of the connected and disconnected letters.

4- One of the created fonts should also consider the bottom dots letters where the dots are bigger and closer to each other.

The designer should be a native reader of Arabic, but it can be in Urdu, Pashto, Farsi. Designer will interact iteratively with the researcher on the development.

We will test the fonts on children, ask for educator feedback, and the designer must be prepared to wait for a while for feedback and further correction.
