Former residence of the sultans of Marrakech , it was first a simple water basin built in the 12th century under the order of the Almohad caliph . Then the pavilion was built in the 19th century by the Saadian . This garden today has beautiful olive trees, cypresses and palms. The pond water is supplied by water from the Atlas and serves as a reservoir for irrigation . The Menara Gardens is a quiet and peaceful place, where lovers love to walk.
