Job Description: We are looking for a skilled Database Design and Implementation Specialist to support the creation of a comprehensive database for Happy Valley Airlines (HVA). This database will track essential information related to airplanes, flights, and passengers. You will design, implement, and query a relational database from start to finish, based on specific requirements outlined by HVA.

Responsibilities:

Database Design:

Develop an ER diagram based on provided requirements for Happy Valley Airlines.

Identify and define key entities and relationships, such as airplanes, manufacturers, passengers, and flights.

Schema Creation:

Transform the ER diagram into a normalized database schema.

Define table structures and assign appropriate data types to attributes.

Database Setup and Population:

Create and configure database tables, ensuring structural integrity.

Populate tables with realistic test data (minimum 5-10 records per table), maintaining relational consistency.

Query Development:

Develop 10 insightful SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data within the database.

Ensure queries incorporate essential elements such as joins, aggregate functions, GROUP BY, HAVING, and subqueries for a variety of query outcomes.

Documentation and Report Writing:

Maintain a detailed project log documenting challenges, solutions, and insights gained at each stage of the project.

Compose a well-organized, grammatically correct report detailing the project’s progression, design decisions, and learnings.

Testing and Quality Assurance:

Execute queries and capture execution results, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

Review and validate data integrity, table relationships, and query functionality.

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in database design, SQL, and relational database management systems.

Experience with ER modeling and schema creation.

Strong analytical skills for crafting insightful and efficient SQL queries.

Project Management:

Strong documentation and report-writing skills, particularly for technical explanations.

Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and troubleshoot issues effectively.

Attention to Detail:

Commitment to developing realistic test data and maintaining data consistency across tables.

An eye for writing clear, structured, and technically sound reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in database design projects within the airline industry or with similar logistical data sets.

Familiarity with relational databases and tools like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
