To reinforce our understanding of the concepts covered in the Digital Electronics course, my team and I designed and implemented a Digital Counting System capable of counting from 00 to 99 as a practical application of what we learned.
The project was built using several digital logic components, including:
Logic Control
Counter
Decoder
Multiplexer (MUX)
555 Timer IC as a Clock Pulse Generator
Two-Digit Seven-Segment Display
One of the main objectives of this project was implementing Display Multiplexing, allowing both digits of the seven-segment display to be driven efficiently while maintaining stable and accurate counting.
Before building the hardware, we designed and verified the circuit through simulation, then successfully implemented the complete system on a breadboard to validate its functionality in real hardware.
This project strengthened my understanding of digital logic design, sequential circuits, timing circuits, display multiplexing, hardware implementation, and circuit verification, while demonstrating the value of teamwork in transforming theoretical concepts into a functional engineering project.
A big thank you to my teammates for their collaboration and dedication throughout this project.
