NBIS – Newborn Biometric Identification System

NBIS is a healthcare-focused UI/UX case study designed to solve one of the most sensitive challenges in hospitals: ensuring that every newborn remains safely identified and protected from the moment of birth.

The project aims to reduce the risk of newborn misidentification, accidental exchange, or child abduction by introducing a secure biometric identification system. Using AI-powered biometric recognition based on newborn fingerprints and footprints, the platform enables fast and accurate identity verification throughout the child's stay in the hospital.

To create a complete and secure ecosystem, the system was designed around four different user roles:

Admin Dashboard: Manages the entire platform, including users, hospitals, organizations, permissions, and system monitoring.

Nurse Dashboard: Registers newborns, captures biometric data, verifies identities, and manages infant records.

Police Dashboard: Instantly receives missing-child reports, searches biometric records, verifies identities, and supports child recovery.

Parent Dashboard: Allows parents to monitor their registered children, track verification status, receive notifications, and report missing children directly through the system.

The project follows a complete UX process, starting from problem definition and user research to user flows, information architecture, design system, branding, and high-fidelity UI design. The final solution focuses on security, usability, accessibility, and creating a seamless experience for every user involved in protecting newborn identities.
