Rota — On-Call & Leave for Small Teams is a multi-tenant SaaS web app that replaces a manual "OnCall Schedule" Google Sheet with a live system. It does two things together that most tools keep separate: it auto-generates the on-call rotation from configurable rules (comp days, swaps, office-coverage constraints), and it manages leave (vacation/sick requests with approvals routed up a real org hierarchy). When someone takes time off or calls in sick, the schedule re-computes itself so everyone sees the current truth without hand-editing cells.

It's organized around environments (one per company) — whoever creates one becomes its Super Admin and models their teams, managers, reporting lines, leave policies, and on-call rules. Different roles get tailored views (employee self-service, manager controls, super-admin config, and a read-only management overview), plus a live "today" board. The target users are small teams of 5–20 people. Non-goals for v1 include payroll/HRIS, incident paging (à la PagerDuty), native mobile apps, and multi-timezone logic.
