Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) aerodynamic analysis of a large cruise ship using STAR-CCM+.
• Prepared and cleaned the 3D geometry for CFD simulation.
• Created the external computational domain and fluid region.
• Generated the computational mesh with local refinement around the ship geometry.
• Defined air-flow physics, boundary conditions, and turbulence models.
• Simulated external airflow around the complete cruise ship geometry.
• Analyzed pressure distribution, velocity contours, wake behavior, and aerodynamic drag.
• Calculated aerodynamic drag force and drag coefficient.
• Evaluated the aerodynamic performance of the ship at the selected operating speed.
