I recieved the files for the mechanical scope from the tender team. My role was to provide a suitable solution for an aeration system that is required in the balance tank. The aeration system provides mixing of effluent to make it more homogeneous. The effluent stays in the equalisation tank for sufficient residence time while getting mixed before being transferred to the STP for treatment. The aeration system contains two main components: air blowers and bubble coarse air diffusers. The air blower is an equipment that provides airflow under certain conditions through a pipes that distribute the airflow among diffusers to create bubbles and mix wastewater.
I used numerical analysis to find the best selection of blower units. I should take into account the tank design from the tender document.
I calculated the flow rate of air needed to be generated through air blowers and air diffusers using tank design data by performing the fluid calculations
Since this project is an additional scope with no specifications, I had to get technically involved in this part and conduct research and technical discussions with the engineering team. I had a full understanding of the system before I started sending RFQs to suppliers.
I conducted market research to identify vendors who could provide blower units and air diffusers.
I made the highest possible savings in this project
