RAWAA was founded in 2020 in Cairo, Egypt, by a team of specialty coffee professionals and cultural storytellers who shared a single frustration: the best coffee shops in the Arab world were either pale imitations of Western chains or traditional cafes that had not evolved their offer.
The founders asked a simple question: What would a specialty coffee brand look like if it were built from Arabic culture outward — not borrowed from Seattle or Copenhagen, but grown from the soil of our own rituals and values?
The answer was RAWAA. Named after the Arabic verb rawaa — to narrate, to tell stories, to pass wisdom through words — the brand set out to create spaces where every cup carries a cultural story worth sharing.
