Excited to share my latest Data Analysis portfolio project! A great dashboard isn’t just about making data look pretty; it’s about uncovering hidden inefficiencies and driving strategic business decisions. ?
I recently developed a comprehensive Sales and Budget Dashboard (2019–2021) to track KPIs, evaluate salesperson performance, and compare actual sales against allocated budgets.
? The Problem I Discovered:
While diving deep into the Category Analysis, I spotted a major red flag in resource allocation. The company's budget was split almost evenly: 49.52% (~16.16M) was allocated to the 'Drink' category, and 50.48% (~16.47M) to 'Food'.
However, the actual sales data told a completely different story!
The 'Food' category was the absolute powerhouse, driving a massive 91.39% (16.37M) of total sales, while the heavily funded 'Drink' category yielded only 8.61% (1.54M). Half the budget was being drained by a segment generating less than 10% of the revenue!
? My Solutions & Actionable Insights:
Strategic Budget Reallocation: I recommended immediately shifting a significant portion of the 'Drink' marketing and operational budget to the 'Food' segment. Doubling down on top-selling products like Wheat Flour and Oil will drastically maximize ROI.
Investigate the Underperformers: Before sinking more budget into bottom-tier products like Energy Drinks and Tea, the business needs to audit its pricing, market fit, and marketing strategies for the entire beverage line.
Channel Optimization: The data shows 'Retail' is our strongest channel. Aligning our top sales reps (shoutout to Carla Ferreira!) with our highest-performing retail distributors will further accelerate growth.
I really enjoyed working on this project—from data cleaning and modeling to building the final interactive visualizations—as it proves how simply looking at the numbers from the right angle can save a company millions.
