يشكل الدين منهجاً لحياة البشر فهو النظام الذى يسير عليه الفرد لكى يوفر له السعادة فى الدارين الدنيا والآخرة؛ حيث ينظم العلاقة بين الفرد وربه، وباقى أقرانه فى المجتمع الذى يعيش فيه؛ فهو بمثابة نظام اجتماعى يحث الفرد على اتباع السلوك القويم، وهو ما يشكل احتراماً للقوانين واللوائح، ويكون دافع الفرد فى تلك الحالة هو الدين، وليس الخوف من تطبيق القوانين وهنا تظهر فكرة مراقبة العبد لتصرفاته خشية المولى عزوجل، وهو ما يشكل زيادة فى الوازع الدينى ؛ فإذا ما وصل الفرد إلى تلك المرحلة فإنه بلا شك يكون قد وصل إلى مرحلة الأمان التى يحققها الدين من خلال الخشية من المولى عزوجل.

فهنا تكمن أهمية الدين بأنه الحل الأمثل لكافة المشكلات التى تتعرض لها المجتمعات؛ فضلا عن أنه ضمانة أساسية لصيانة الأفراد من الوقوع فى الرذيلة؛ فبدون الدين تتخبط المجتمعات، ويظل أفرادها تائهين دون أن يكون هناك طريق؛ أو منهج يسيرون عليه يتمكنون من خلاله أن يتركوا ظلمة الدنيا، ويتجهوا إلى نور الآخرة.

لذا ينزل الدين من الأفراد منزلة راقية وسامية؛ حيث يشعرون بقدسيته وأهميته حينما يتذوقون حلاوته، ويتجرعون كأس الخير من خلاله؛ لاتباعهم المنهج القويم، والطريق المستقيم؛ الذى يبغيه ذوو النفوس السليمة فضلا عن أن الدين له تشريف وجلال، ومهابة فى نفوس معتنقيه؛ الأمر الذى يشكل استهجاناً لأى اعتداء يقع عليه؛ لذلك كان لزاما على المشرع أن يضع العقوبات التى تتناسب مع الجرائم التى تمس الأديان؛ نظرا لقدسيتها، وما لها من أثر فى النفوس.
