A Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) is an unmanned underwater robotic system that is controlled in real time by an operator from the surface through a tethered communication link. It is designed to perform underwater inspection, exploration, maintenance, and intervention tasks in environments that are difficult, dangerous, or impossible for human divers to access. An ROV typically consists of a waterproof mechanical frame, multiple thrusters for multi-directional movement, onboard sensors such as cameras, depth sensors, and inertial measurement units, a power distribution system, and an embedded control unit for stabilization and maneuvering. The tether provides electrical power, control signals, and live video transmission between the vehicle and the surface control station. ROVs are widely used in offshore oil and gas operations, marine research, underwater infrastructure inspection, search and rescue missions, and defense applications, offering enhanced safety, precision, and operational endurance in subsea environments
