Project Title
Chemical Inventory Management System for the Faculty of Science – Fayoum University
Project Overview
This project aims to design and implement an electronic management system to organize and monitor chemical substances inside laboratories and storage rooms at the Faculty of Science, Fayoum University.
The system is developed to ensure:
Safe use of chemical materials
Reduction of waste and material damage
Accurate tracking of available quantities
Improved efficiency of laboratory and storage operations
Project Objectives
1. Manage Chemical Material Data
Record material name, chemical formula, type, hazard level, and expiration date.
Differentiate between various chemical categories such as:
(Acids – Bases – Organic – Inorganic – Gases)
2. Facilitate Search and Reporting
Enable easy search and report generation based on material type.
3. Laboratory and Storage Management
Organize storage locations whether in laboratories or central warehouses.
Define appropriate safety levels and storage temperatures.
4. Stock Control
Track available quantities for each material.
Automatically update quantities after usage.
5. Record Chemical Usage
Track who used each material, when it was used, and in which laboratory.
Link usage records to authorized staff members.
6. Safety Control
Monitor high-risk materials.
Prevent unauthorized usage.
7. Monitor Expired or Low-Stock Materials
Record materials that are out of stock.
Generate alerts for materials approaching expiration dates.
System Scope
The system covers:
All laboratories within the Faculty of Science
All chemical storage facilities
Staff members including technicians and teaching assistants
Chemical materials used in teaching and scientific research
