Booknest – A Calm Social Reading Experience

Booknest is a mobile reading platform designed for people who love books but struggle to organize their reading life, track their progress, and discover meaningful recommendations. The project explores how a calm, human-centered design approach can transform reading from a chaotic habit into a motivating and enjoyable experience.

This case study follows the full Design Thinking process, starting with user research to understand readers’ frustrations, behaviors, and emotional needs. Through qualitative and quantitative research, we discovered that many readers feel overwhelmed by scattered book lists, poor recommendations, and a lack of visible progress, which often leads to losing motivation.

Based on these insights, Booknest was designed as a digital home for readers — a place where users can collect all their books, see their reading journey, connect with other readers, and receive personalized recommendations in a peaceful, distraction-free environment.

The final design focuses on three core values:

organization, motivation, and emotional connection, creating a reading experience that feels simple, personal, and calm.

This project demonstrates my approach to UX research, product thinking, and user-centered interface design, showing how thoughtful design can create meaningful digital experiences.
