Jilo Health Services, a leading healthcare provider in the USA, is expanding its IT capabilities to support two hospital locations within the same city. The headquarters and branch hospital are 20 km apart, each hosting critical medical and administrative departments.

To improve performance, operational efficiency, and scalability, the organization has decided to transition away from third-party IT dependency and fully own its LAN, WAN, and Server-Side infrastructure.

As the Network Engineer on this project, I designed a fully structured, cost-effective, and scalable network following a hierarchical architecture model with two core routers (HQ & Branch), redundant ISP connections, and dedicated network segments for every department.

? Key Technologies Implemented

-? VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks)

Segmented all departments into isolated VLANs to reduce broadcast traffic and improve network manageability and performance.

-? EtherChannel

Bundled switch links to increase bandwidth and ensure redundancy between switching devices.

-? OSPF (Open Shortest Path First)

Configured dynamic routing between HQ and the branch hospital, ensuring fast convergence and efficient path selection across multiple network segments.

-? DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

Automated IP assignment using a centralized DHCP server hosted at the server site.

-? NAT (Network Address Translation)

Configured NAT to allow internal devices secure access to external networks using a single public IP address.

-? Server-Side Infrastructure

Deployed multiple essential servers including:

DNS Server – Internal/external domain name resolution

Web Server – Hosting internal apps and public web content

DHCP Server-Provides automatic IP addressing and network configuration for clients

-? SSH (Secure Shell)

Enabled secure remote access and device administration for all network hardware.

-? WLAN (Wireless LAN)

Provided wireless network access for employees and guests with appropriate segmentation.

-? ISP Routers

Integrated dual ISP connections for both sites to ensure high availability and stable internet access.

This network design delivers:
