Configuration of IP ACLs to Mitigate Network Attacks in Cisco Packet Tracer

تفاصيل العمل

I successfully completed a Cisco Packet Tracer project focused on configuring Access Control Lists (ACLs) to secure a network and mitigate potential attacks.

In this project, I worked with a topology consisting of three routers (R1, R2, R3), a management station (PC-C), and a server (PC-A). The goal was to:

Control remote access to routers using standard and extended ACLs.

Ensure that only PC-C, the management station, could remotely access routers for administration.

Allow legitimate traffic such as DNS, SMTP, FTP, and HTTPS between the server and clients.

Block any unauthorized access attempts from other devices in the network.

I verified full connectivity before applying ACLs, then implemented and tested the filters on R1 and R3 to confirm that:

Authorized devices retained access.

Unapproved sources were denied.

Network communication remained stable and secure.

This project demonstrates practical skills in:

Designing and implementing security policies using ACLs.

Testing and troubleshooting network access.

Applying Cisco best practices to mitigate network threats.
