Vision and Environmental Integration

The design addresses the challenge of disconnection from nature prevalent in contemporary concrete structures. SOULSCAPE adopts an architectural vision that seamlessly merges modern design with the desert topography. The building is intelligently embedded into the rocky terrain, creating staggered levels that descend up to -15.0 meters. This integration promotes environmental harmony and creates protected, warm interior spaces that open up to panoramic views of the desert and the sea.

Program and Key Functions

The project spans a large area to accommodate a diverse set of functions centered around three main pillars: Wellness, Accommodation, and Research. Key components include:

* Wellness and Retreat Facilities:

* Healthcare Clinic and Fitness Club.

* Creative Arts Studios (painting and dance).

* Meditation Loft and Yoga spaces.

* Aromatherapy center and an Observatory.

* Accommodation and Public Spaces:

* Luxury accommodation rooms, restaurants, and cafes.

* Panoramic entrances and large gathering spaces.

* Research and Innovation:

* Integrated facilities for research and development, including workshops, laboratories, lecture halls, and a specialized library.

Structural and Sustainable Innovation

The building employs advanced structural systems to ensure both structural efficiency and environmental sustainability:

* Hybrid Structural System: A combination of Reinforced Concrete (RC) elements and Steel and Glass Space Frames, utilizing Steel Cables and Tensile Structures (fabric) to form the complex, faceted roofs and curtain wall facades.

* Solar-Conscious Roof Design: The intricate roof geometry was developed to be solar-conscious, providing effective self-shading and optimizing daylight penetration from the Eastern facade. The accompanying Solar Analysis demonstrated the success of this design in significantly reducing direct solar heat gain, thus improving energy efficiency and thermal comfort.
