القصة بالإنجليزية:

The Wise Old Man

Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a wise old man. People from different places used to come to him to ask for advice. He always listened carefully and gave them answers full of wisdom.

One day, a young boy came to him and said, “I feel weak and useless. Everyone is better than me. What should I do?”

The old man smiled and gave him a small stone. He said, “Go to the market and try to sell this stone, but don’t actually sell it. Just see how much people are willing to pay.”

The boy went to the market, and people offered him money for the stone. Some offered little, some offered more. Surprised, the boy returned to the old man.

The wise man said, “Now take the stone to a jeweler.” When the jeweler saw it, he offered a very high price because the stone was actually a rare diamond.

The old man told the boy, “You see, your value is not decided by people who don’t understand you. Your true worth is recognized by those who know your real qualities.”

الترجمة بالعربية:

الرجل العجوز الحكيم

في قديم الزمان، كان هناك رجل عجوز حكيم يعيش في قرية صغيرة. اعتاد الناس من أماكن مختلفة أن يأتوا إليه لطلب النصيحة. كان دائمًا يستمع جيدًا ويعطي إجابات مليئة بالحكمة.

في يوم من الأيام، جاءه صبي صغير وقال: "أشعر أنني ضعيف وعديم الفائدة. الجميع أفضل مني. ماذا أفعل؟"

ابتسم الرجل العجوز وأعطاه حجرًا صغيرًا. وقال له: "اذهب إلى السوق وحاول أن تبيعه، لكن لا تبيعه حقًا. فقط انظر كم سيدفع الناس."

ذهب الصبي إلى السوق، وبدأ الناس يعرضون المال مقابل الحجر. بعضهم عرض القليل، والبعض عرض أكثر. اندهش الصبي وعاد إلى الرجل العجوز.

فقال الحكيم: "الآن خذ الحجر إلى صائغ." وعندما رآه الصائغ، عرض عليه ثمنًا كبيرًا جدًا، لأن الحجر كان في الحقيقة ماسة نادرة.

فقال الرجل العجوز للصبي: "أرأيت؟ قيمتك لا يحددها الذين لا يفهمونك. قيمتك الحقيقية يعرفها من يقدّر صفاتك الحقيقية."
