Fault Tolerant Design for a Smoke Detector using IoT, CloudMQTT, UDP

This project aims to apply the concept of Internet of Things (IoT) to the smoke

detector, which increase the simplicity of establishing it in anywhere in buildings.

The project consists of three main parts.

- First part: the smoke detector modules using NodeMCU (ESP8266) Board.

Programmed with Arduino IDE, as clients to the server on cloud using CloudMQTT to enable all

modules for exchanging data between them through the server.

Second part: the mobile application.

developed using Ionic Platform, that allow the user checks up the status of the building if there is a fire in or not remotely from anywhere around the world, also it can send an alarm to the user to warn him if there is a fire

in the building and pinpoint the exactly location of the fire in which place in the

building.

The last part of the system that allow the fault tolerance, if the connection

between the server and any smoke detector module is broken, then a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) connection is established between this module and another one that is still connected to the server and send the data to the user
