As part of my Azure Administrator internship at Global Brands Group (GBG)—a company in partnership with a top-tier Microsoft partner in Egypt—I successfully completed a case study on the Lift and Shift Migration of On-Premises Virtual Machines to Azure.
This project involved:
Assessing the on-premises environment using Azure Migrate.
Migrating four virtual machines to Azure, first to the France region, then using Azure Site Recovery to move the required VMs to the Italy region. This approach optimized the migration process compared to relying solely on the Migration Appliance.
Ensuring secure communication between Azure regions via Virtual Network Peering.
Configuring Network Security Groups (NSGs) and implementing robust backup policies using Azure Backup.
Setting up two Bastion hosts for high availability, ensuring connectivity to Italy VMs even if the France region becomes unavailable.
I documented a detailed action plan outlining the migration process, challenges encountered, and the solutions applied. Additionally, I delivered a presentation summarizing my migration strategy, testing outcomes, and key insights gained throughout the project.
This experience solidified my technical proficiency in Azure cloud services and demonstrated my ability to execute complex cloud migration initiatives with an emphasis on efficiency and resilience.
