A ccording to the MINISTRY OF HEALTH and POPULATION (MOH) in Egypt, the Egyptian Blood Transfusion Service started in 1938 with the formation of a non-governmental organization for blood donors As stated in the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO), developed countries suffer from a shortage in the blood donation supplies, but not as severe as in the developing nations such as Egypt where "every three seconds, there is a patient who requires blood, thus there is an urgent need ranging between 2.5 to 3 million bags annually. Tragically, only 60 percent of the country's needs are met".
