I've recently completed a Power BI dashboard project analyzing the 2015 U.S. Flight Delays and Cancellations dataset.
1-Overview Dashboard :
A high-level overview of flight activity, showing total flights, number of airports, and active airlines. Flight data is broken down by day, month, and quarter, showing the distribution of flights across the year. This dashboard also includes a comparison of flight volumes by airline, revealing leading carriers in terms of the number of flights.
2-Delays Dashboard:
This view provides insights into delays by airport, with the top delayed airports clearly ranked. The bar charts compare average arrival and departure delay times across airlines, giving a clear view of delay trends.
Using DAX measures, I calculated average delay times to help identify airlines with the longest and shortest delays, both for arrival and departure.
3-Cancellations Dashboard:
This dashboard explores the reasons for flight cancellations, breaking them down by factors like weather, airline issues, NAS (National Airspace System), and security. Key metrics like the number of canceled flights and cancellation rates are highlighted. A time-series line chart illustrates monthly trends in cancellations, helping to spot peak periods and patterns.
4-Map Dashboard:
This dashboard uses an interactive map to visualize flight delays and cancellations across different airports in the U.S.Each airport marker shows detailed insights on total flights, delays, and cancellations, helping to pinpoint high-impact locations. With Power BI’s mapping tools and DAX measures, users can quickly identify delay and cancellation hotspots geographically, aiding in targeted analysis by location.
