Project: Analyzing Student Performance and Influencing Factors

In this project, I analyzed a dataset containing student demographic information and their academic grades. The objective was to uncover patterns that influence student performance and understand key factors that affect grades.

Steps Undertaken:

Data Cleaning and Preparation: I began by cleaning the dataset, which involved handling missing values, correcting data inconsistencies, and ensuring accurate data formatting.

Data Modeling and DAX Calculations: Using Power BI and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), I created calculated measures to assess performance trends, such as average grade per student, highest and lowest performing subjects, and student progress over time.

Data Analysis: I performed in-depth analysis to explore correlations between various factors (such as attendance, socioeconomic background, parental education, and study habits) and student grades. I utilized statistical techniques and DAX measures to draw insights from the data.

Visualization and Reporting: I designed an interactive dashboard in Power BI, enabling stakeholders to filter by grade level, subjects, and influencing factors. The dashboard helped highlight key insights such as:

Students from certain socioeconomic backgrounds showing higher improvement in specific subjects.

Strong correlation between attendance and final grades.

The impact of parental education on student performance.

Outcome:

The analysis provided valuable insights into student performance, allowing educators to focus on areas needing intervention and tailor educational strategies accordingly.
