The goal of the challenge is to measure the improvement of hospitals quality of care. The analysis had main ideas taken through the analysis:

Has the HCAHPS scores improved over 9 years?

Specific area of progress.

Specific areas of opportunity.

Recommendations to help hospitals improve patient experience.

The Analysis process undergo many steps:

Data acquisition: Downloading the dataset.

Data Exploration: understanding what the data fields represent and explore the tables and columns of each data set.

Data Cleaning: this is the most important step. Eliminating errors and transforming data types and adding a calendar table was performed during this phase using Power Query.

Data Modelling: This step starts by illustrating the data tables and lookup tables on white paper and then create relationships between the tables. This then is moved to Power BI and relationships of (1 to many) is establishes between lookup and data tables.

DAX and Visualization: Some measurements were calculated prior and through the visualization phase and multiple visuals has been used to derive findings and analysis.

Findings: The visuals were analysed to make takeaways and recommendations about the survey.

Key Insights:

There is a 1.41% decrease in hospitals care and completed surveys numbers has declined over the 9 years period of HCAHPS Survey.

2)The hospital is maintaining progress in the area of Discharge Information.

Communication with Doctors and Nurses are second in maintaining a positive response.

4) Care Transition is the least area with positive response with a rate of 52.14%.

Although Quietness of Hospital Environment is not among the high rating areas of positive response, it has the least percentage of decrease over the 9 years period of surveys.

South Dakota and Nebraska states has the highest positive response rate of the HCAHPS Survey.

Recommendations:

Increase the awareness of the completing the survey before the discharge process of patients.

Hospitals need to undergo a growth process in Care transition through three elements:

Increase the involvement of patients and caregivers in their health care needs before discharge.

Ensuring patients has well comprehended their responsibilities to manage their health.

Ensuring patients understood the purpose of each of their medications.

Communications about Medicines and Quietness of Hospital Environment are major areas for opportunity of growth in the next years.
