The field training is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of IoT systems. It encompasses both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in building a five-layer IoT system. The training begins with the sensing layer, which involves using sensors embedded on a microcontroller. The chosen microcontroller for this training is the ESP32 Dev Kit V1. Moving on to the device layer, participants learn how to control the microcontroller and utilize its built-in Wi-Fi module for communication. They also explore different protocols, such as HTTP, for sending sensor data over a network.

The cloud layer is another crucial aspect covered in the training, where participants establish communication between the ESP32 Dev Kit V1 and a cloud service like Firebase. This allows for seamless data exchange and integration with cloud-based applications. Finally, the application layer focuses on developing web or mobile app interfaces that interact with the sensor data and enable users to send commands to the ESP32 system.

Throughout the training, participants are assessed individually and as part of a team for each layer of the IoT system. This ensures a comprehensive evaluation of their understanding and skills. Additionally, a capstone project brings together all the learned concepts and techniques, providing participants with real-world experience and preparing them for various job opportunities in embedded systems, web development, mobile app development, cloud integration, networks, and system engineering.

To achieve the training objectives, a combination of theoretical instruction, hands-on practice, peer discussions, and trainer evaluations are employed. This holistic approach ensures that participants not only gain theoretical knowledge but also apply it practically and engage in meaningful discussions with their peers and trainers. Emphasis is also placed on teamwork and effective workload distribution, as well as comprehensive documentation of each task completed.
