ARD 334

ARD 334 is an innovative apartment building project designed to challenge the status quo and revolutionize the conceptualization, development, and utilization of apartment buildings.

ARD 334 is located north of Amman, an area experiencing significant urban expansion, the project is a residential building that comprises five floors with a total of ten three-bedroom apartments, each covering 150 square meters. The main facade's solid-void contrast creates a striking visual statement, asserting the building's presence on the bustling main street while framing views and ensuring interior privacy.

The design innovatively reinterprets the use of standard facade materials commonly used in Amman, combining Maani white stone with basalt black stone for exterior cladding. This subtle yet powerful tweak enhances the building's visual impact with minimal effort and cost, while also improving the quality and functionality of the interior spaces.

The interplay of color, and the patterns of light and shadow on the main facade, resulting from the use of white and black stone, create an abstract mass that resembles a sculpture. This stands in stark contrast to the conventional architecture prevalent in the area.

This project seeks to rethink the traditional apartment building, offering a more meaningful approach to residential real estate development that transcends the repetitive and mundane. By considering local constraints and the need for affordable housing that respects the lives and uniqueness of its inhabitants, this project strives to balance economics and aesthetics, standardization and customization, and context sensitivity and modern expression.
