Born in the rural side of Georgia on February 9th, 1944, and raised in a humble household where she faced several challenges, Alice Walker succeeded to overcome the hazards in her way and carved her name in the history of Southern female authors. Walker is an African American writer, poet, and social activist who had numerous significant contributions to the American Southern literature.
