Abstract:

Coming from a poor and unstable background, Marilyn Monroe had a tough start to life. The famous sex symbol in the American society and media is almost always mentioned for her beauty and attractiveness, but few are those who recognize her for her strength and struggles. Norma Jeane went through tough circumstances before she rose to fame. From moving between foster homes and orphanages to having an early marriage at the age of 16, Marilyn sought different solaces before she found her way to fame. In this paper, her struggle and persistence will be acknowledged, and her achievement and humanitarian stances will be highlighted to prove that this controversial woman was more than just a sex symbol.
