The enzyme of glucose -6-phosphate dehydrogenase is called G6PD and it is an enzyme necessary for the functioning and integrity of red blood cells, as this enzyme participates in a series of reactions that take place in the red blood cell that ultimately lead to the production of the reference glutathione reduced, which protects the red blood cells from breakdown when exposed to oxidants.
