Challenge: The organization had issues tracing the direct and indirect costs of their medical procedures held in the Operation and Surgical departments. The accounting system used by the time limited their ability to allocate their overhead costs.
Solution developed and implemented: As a consultant I have developed a Time Driven Activity Based Costing (TDABC) costing system using a specialized Excel software (Golden Aseal) that provides accurate costing information about product/service costs in a timely, easy, and dynamic manner.
The TDABC followed a seven-step process including operation documentation, cost estimation, practical capacity estimation, unit cost calculation, driver identification, time determination, and total cost calculation.
As a result, the efficiency of the medical procedures in both the Operation and Surgical departments have improved and reduce overhead costs per operation.
