Ghardaia University is located in the state of Ghardaia. It was previously known as a university center, and it was transformed into a university according to a ministerial decision in 2012.

The university contains several colleges, the most important of which are the College of Geology, Earth Sciences, the College of Biology, Computer Media, Law, Humanities, Islamic Sciences, Science and Technology.

Ghardaia University is divided into an old university and a new university. The total number of university students during the year 2013 was about 10 thousand students. In 2019, the number of male and female students reached 14,000.
