We achieved that for an eCommerce brand in the supplement space in only 9 months!
Here's a complete breakdown of the SEO strategy we used
this supplement brand had two main products they wanted to rank in the top-5 spots of Google.
They also had target keywords picked out.
So everything we did for this campaign revolved around increasing rankings for those two transactional keywords.
The first thing we did was audit the website from a technical standpoint.
Doing so sets the foundation for an SEO campaign, and ensures that Google can properly crawl, index and rank all pages on the website.
We used the tool Screaming Frog SEO Spider to do this.
The site was fairly small and therefore didn't have a ton of errors.
There were some indexed paginated pages that we needed to add canonical tags to.
Some pages missing meta descriptions and H1 tags that we filled in.
And some broken backlinks that we fixed.
Outside of that, from a website architecture standpoint, we added the two products that they wanted to get ranking into the main navigation menu of the site.
This helps Google more effectively crawl and index the pages, which ultimately leads to higher rankings.
We simply updated each product page and ensured the target keyword was in the pages:
1. URL slug
2. Meta Title
3. Meta Description
4. H1 tag
5. H2 tag
And we also included the target keyword throughout the product description in a natural manner.
Thirdly, we needed to start publishing blog content.
Blog content helps to drive relevant users to the site (who sometimes convert), but more importantly, helps to build the topical authority of the site, which improves product page keyword rankings.
Our blog content strategy was all about targeting question keywords.
We simply found questions users were searching related to the products we were trying to rank and published blog content targeting those question keywords.
Funny enough, tools like Ahrefs said that those keywords only had around 10 searches a month.
But over the last 5 months, our blog content drove over 50,000 clicks and generated over $21,000 in organic revenue.
It just goes to show...
Search volume isn't always accurate!
Lastly, we engaged in link building.
Link building is one of the most important aspects of SEO.
It's responsible for growing the authority of the site, which allows the site to rank for more keywords, and rank higher for more competitive keywords.
We focused all of our link building efforts on the blog content we published as well as the site's homepage.
The result of these efforts was not only 4x more organic traffic...
But we also ranked this brand's target product page keywords in the top 5 spots of Google!
