Traditional transportation systems fail to account for changes in the environment, leading to hazardous conditions for drivers. Unpredictable weather or other environmental shifts can increase the likelihood of accidents on the road. To address this problem, a system of sensors and actuators can be developed that use clean energy to monitor the environment around vehicles. A machine-vision based program can detect changes in weather and road conditions and adjust speed limits accordingly, using dynamic road signs. An IoT system can also be employed to keep track of the vehicle's surroundings and report back on weather and road conditions. By analyzing the results obtained from these sensors, transportation systems can be made safer and more environmentally-friendly.
