SPACE PLANNING – PARTS B & C
Format: CAD only. Manual drafting is not accepted.
• Drawings must be on 18" × 24" or 24" × 36" sheets with border and title block.
• North arrow must appear on plans.
• Submit a single PDF to scale (Monochrome setting with proper line weights).
• Submit the CAD file as well. (PDF and CAD file are both required. CAD file alone will
not be accepted and the assignment will be considered late.)
PART B – Floor Plans
• Detailed floor plan drafted at 1/4" = 1'-0" including all furniture, fixtures, and room names.
• Add elevation references on the plan.
• Provide reference plans as needed.
PART C – Elevations
Draft a total of six major elevations at 3/8" = 1'-0":
• One elevation of the Kitchen
• One elevation of the Living Room
• One elevation of the Dining Room
• One elevation of the Principal Bedroom
• One elevation of the Principal Bathroom
• One additional elevation of a room of your choice
Elevations must include furniture, artwork, accessories, and all architectural features.
Do not add dimensions; these are presentation drawings.
Elevations without furniture will not be marked.

Due: Week 8, beginning of class Day 1
EVALUATION
• Part A: 5% of final grade
• Parts B & C: 25% of final grade
• Check-off: 5%
Evaluation is based on:
• Creative use of space and furniture layout
• Quality of selected high-end furniture
• Accurate application of anthropometric data to meet client needs
• Drafting accuracy of plans and elevations
• Alignment with client style and preferences
• Completeness of the assignment

ELEVATION NOTES
• Floor-to-ceiling height (main and second floor): 9'-0".
• Windows start 2'-0" above the floor and 1'-0" below the ceiling.
• Kitchen window: start 3'-6" above the floor (counter height is 3'-0") and 1'-0" below the ceiling.
• Width or location of windows, main doors, stairs, or structural elements such as columns
cannot be modified or added.
• You may modify the plan to meet client requirements. Creativity of space use will be marked.
REMINDERS
• This is group work.
• Do not share work with other groups.
• Back up your work—loss of data or technical difficulties is not a valid excuse for late
submission.
• Do not wait until the last minute to upload. Slow connections or clock differences are not valid
reasons.
• Check that the correct files are submitted. Resubmission after the deadline is not permitted
without penalty.
• All assignments for this course are mandatory.
• Review the group-work protocol posted on Slate.
DEADLINES & EXPECTATIONS
Weeks 4 & 5
• Source furniture, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and artwork.
Week 6 Day 1
• Critique of preliminary kitchen and principal bathroom plan (worth 2.5 marks, in-class only).
Week 7 Day 1
• Peer-to-peer review of the full preliminary plan (worth 2.5 marks, in-class only).
Week 7 Day 2
• Critique of plans and elevations for feedback on work in progress.
Use the evaluation sheet posted on Slate as a checklist before submitting your final project.
Attendance and punctuality are required for all critiques.
DRAWING LAYOUT SUGGESTIONS
18" × 24" Sheets
• Two sheets for the floor plans
• One sheet for all elevations
• Or combine plans and elevations depending on the size of elevation views.
24" × 36" Sheets
• Possible to fit all plans and elevations on one sheet, depending on elevation size.
Submission: PDF to scale is evaluated. CAD file must also be submitted
